After the longest hiatus from running, I was lured back to my foremost passion of running. Although I had hardly practiced it did not deter me from participating for the Townsville Marathon 2015. However I went for the half marathon this time around (21.2 Kms).

My timing was nothing great but I am still proud of my achievement and feel it was better than not participating at all. Nobody can take that away from me!

What is it about running that does the trick for me? I feel liberated and rejuvenated, calm and composed and I feel more in control of my thoughts.

I guess everyone needs a muse, a passion, a creative outlet to connect with one’s inner self. I am so glad to have found mine in running!!

I do not believe that meditation happens only by sitting still in a certain pose. Meditation, for me happens when I don my shoes and head out for a run. At the start, my mind wanders relentlessly like a humming bird in full flight. Slowly, yet surely, as my body gets in the rhythm, I start channeling my thoughts towards my breathing and the sound of my heart beat, as well as focusing on maintaining the right posture.

That does sound a lot like meditation to me!

Looking forward to more marathons in the future but in the interim period I am sure to go for my regular runs and seek my dose of “meditation in motion”.
